DOCman 1.6 - Dashboard

A compatibility release

Conceived in 2003, DOCman has continued to be the premiere document management tool for Joomla for over 8 years.  As many would already know we have been working on DOCman 2.0 which is itself a revolutionary rebuild of DOCman using Nooku Framework.

What fewer would know is that we have also been working DOCman 1.6… a Joomla 1.6 and 1.7 compatible release of DOCman 1.5.

DOCman 1.6 does not include new features, instead we bring you the same stability, performance and security as DOCman 1.5 out of the box. It is intended that the DOCman 1.6 release will provide be a bridging solution for those already running with Joomla 1.6 or 1.7 and awaiting the release of DOCman 2.0.

Join our Members Club

Whilst we have two teams working on DOCman development yet a third team is busy building an all new Joomlatools members club. So as an existing user I get 30% discount and a further 30% discount from the summer sale?

  • http://johan.janssens.me Johan Janssens

No, the discount doesn’t cumulate. Existing customers will be able to make use of the 30% discount at any time. For new customers the discount will end on the 31th of August.

hmm, I just bought this membership last week.. :( Can you extend the membership a view days??
    cheers roger

  • http://johan.janssens.me Johan Janssens

Send us to support@joomlatools.eu and we will see what we can do.

  • http://johan.janssens.me Johan Janssens

Roger, if you bought the membership a few days ago, you already received the discount. If you think this isn’t the case send us a mail at support@joomlatools.eu

  • http://brian.teeman.net Brian Teeman

Thanks for the clarification – need to think hard then if it’s worth the price hike

  • http://johan.janssens.me Johan Janssens

We think it’s more then worth it. You get access to all our products and updates, including DOCman 2.0 (first beta coming out next month) and you get better support through our member center.

  • http://brian.teeman.net Brian Teeman

Ah my reading was that membership entitled you to the first beta of 2.0 not the actual release

  • http://johan.janssens.me Johan Janssens

No problem. Changed the wording to reflect that. The 2.0 beta and stable versions are included. Being a major release we are releasing beta’s first to gather feedback.

  • tubby

Is there an other way to get a subscription?

  • http://johan.janssens.me Johan Janssens

No sorry there is not. Only way to sign-up is through our store at http://www.joomlatools.eu/store

Could you direct me to tutorials for getting started with DocMan?  I subscribed today, installed docman and the extras like populate.  I think it is all working fine but I’m not sure how to get going.  I want to be able to click on a menu item and go to a directory that will contain a bunch of .doc and .pdf files.   I believe this extension will handle that for me.  At this point I am just using a localhost to get things set up.

You can find information on how to use DOCman on our support portal (http://www.joomlatools.eu/support) or you can post your questions on our forums. (http://forum.joomlatools.eu).

Hi Guys.  Love your products, BUT

You really need to talk to Handspring, your payment processer.  When I went to join I couldn’t see any confirmation of security on the site that would encourage me to enter my credit card details. I checked in both Firefox and Chrome.  Chrome assessment of the Handspring payment site was:
“The site uses SSL, but Google Chrome has detected either high-risk insecure content on the page or problems with the site’s certificate. Don’t enter sensitive information on this page. Invalid certificate or other serious https issues could indicate that someone is attempting to tamper with your connection to the site.”
Please let me know when this is fixed, or send me a way I can pay through Paypal.  I am very keen to join :)

Thanks Gary for the information. You can rest-assured that the connection is secure. The reason you get this warning is because the css files and the logo that are used on the page are not using the https connection.

We are working on fixing this to remove the warning. Your payment information is 200% secure however.

Gary, thanks for your purchase! We have updated our Fastspring template. All resources are now located on Fastspring servers so the notification you noticed should be history now.

For those of us who may need to hang on to Joomla 1.5 for a while longer, how do we get Docman 1.6? The downloads only show v1.5.10.

  • http://johan.janssens.me Johan Janssens

Since the release of DOCman 1.6 for Joomla 1.6/1.7 on 13 July 2011 we have changed Joomlatools to a Membership (club), your previous purchase provided access to a single release (DOCman 1.5) and any subsequent maintenance releases. The new model provides members with 12 month access to whatever versions are released in that time.

Hi. I am new to DOCman – we have installed 1.5.10. I cannot figure out how to either add to access levels or at least, change the titles of levels. We are trying to configure for special purpose and would appreciate the knowledge of increasing levels.

We did contact support and have yet to receive a response. Do they have a large backlog of inquiries delay their response?

  • http://johan.janssens.me Johan Janssens

Support requests are handled in a time window of 24h.

    Hi,

Does DOCman 1.6 has any reference to permissions or Joomla ACL in terms of setting which user can upload, edit or delete files etc.

    Thanks!

  • http://johan.janssens.me Johan Janssens

DOCman 1.5 and 1.6 have complete groups and permission system that allows you to define who can upload, edit and delete documents.
